I watched Alex Minsky’s story on Good Morning America this morning and got totally psyched! It’s a story that combines three of the things that I absolutely love; optimism, working out and awesome photography!
Alex Minsky is a 24 year old Marine whose right leg was blown off by a roadside bomb in 2009 while serving in Afghanistan. He spent 47 days in a coma and suffered traumatic brain injuries.
That is more than enough to send anyone into a deep and devastating depression. Minsky began drinking and I’m sure questioned his reason for living. But one day, somehow, someway, he decided to dig his way out and fight back. Alex started working out again and “Have Mercy! Another underwear model with a body that appears to have been chiseled in heaven was born!”
“When Quitting Is NOT an Option!”
What’s even more awesome to me is that when Alex decided to get up off the mat and begin re-claiming his life a universe of unseen possibilities and blessings opened up and poured down on him. The best part is that Alex is no different than the rest of us. What we think and how we react to the unfair, unjust and tragic things that happen in our lives will always determine our future. To quote a line from the POTUS “….we are the change that we seek.” So no matter how bad our situation looks or feels it’s always up to us to “seek better” in order to “get better!”
“Me, a Role Model?”
So Minsky is at the gym getting it in, pumping iron, looking good and BAM! He catches the keen eye of photographer Tom Cullis and before long this Marine is one of the hottest underwear models in the game! But the real beauty is that Minsky’s life is now and will forever be an inspiration to people with disabilities and those without. Yet another fabulous reminder that while “ish” will always happen in our lives we don’t have to let it defeat us! Bravo Alex!
